Asparagus is a member of the Lily family. It has no fat, no cholesterol, and is low in sodium. It is rich in in both rutin and folic acid. Asparagus can grow over five inches in twenty four hours. In Dietrich Idaho it grows wild along ditch banks, and borrow pits. It first starts popping up at the end of April, and can be harvested until about the middle of June. The asparagus shown was picked in less than an hour and, was within walking distance from my home.
