FrontPage Express Install for Windows 98 second edition
My Online Notes
This information is online so I have access to
it when I'm away from home and doing a clean
install of the Windows 98 SE operating system on
a computer and need to install FrontPage Express.
To install FrontPage Express after I have done a
clean install of Windows 98 second edition on a
computer I will need a full install version of Windows
98 first edition.
First I open Windows Explorer. I go to the Program
Files directory and create a new directory called FrontPage.
Then I open the directory on the Windows 98 first edition
disk called win98. I open the file called Win98_53.cab
with Win Zip. I extract these files to the FrontPage directory
I made in Program Files.
I go back to the directory on the Windows 98 first edition
disk called win98. I open the file called Win98_54.cab
with Win Zip. I extract this file to the FrontPage directory
I made in Program Files.
I go back to the directory on the Windows 98 first edition
disk called win98. I open the file called Win98_59.cab
with Win Zip. I extract this file to the FrontPage directory
I made in Program Files.
-
fpxpress.exe
I could double click on the fpxpress.exe file in the FrontPage
directory in Program files and FrontPage Express would work,
but I want to put it in the start menu. This is how I put
FrontPage Express in the start menu:
-
open windows explorer
-
open the windows directory
-
open the start menu directory
-
open the programs directory
In the programs directory I create a directory called FrontPage.
Then I go to the directory in Program files called FrontPage.
I right click on the file called fpxpress.exe and select copy.
I go back to the directory I made called FrontPage in the
programs directory. I right click and select paste shortcut.
To make the help feature of FrontPage Express work I
open the directory on the Windows 98 first edition disk
called win98. I open the file called Win98_51.cab with
Win Zip. I extract this file: fpxpress.chm and put it in
this location: c:\windows\help
If I did everything right I should be able to click the start
button, go to programs and select FrontPage. FrontPage
Express should open and work fine.
