Matilda R Parkhurst

Matilda R. Parkhurst was born circa 1836 in NY.
She married Luman A. Drew on 18 April 1861 in Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT.
She appeared on the census of 6 July 1860 in Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT.


Joseph Parkhurst

Joseph6 Parkhurst was born on 25 June 1721 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
He married Mary unknown circa 1742 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT probably.
He died on 4 November 1814 in Royalton, Windsor Co., VT, at age 93.
He was buried in 1814 in North Royalton Cem., Royalton, Windsor Co., VT, near his son, Benjamin.
This Joseph is not to be confused with his uncle, also named Joseph, who married as his second wife, Judith (Haynes) Johnson, in Plainfield, CT on 12 August 1741.
Two of Joseph's sons, Benjamin and Reuben, were original grantees of Royalton, VT.
Joseph was one of the earliest settlers of Sharon, VT.
He was one of 13 who took the Vermont Freeman's Oath on 3 March 1778 in Sharon.
On 27 August 1785, Joseph deeded his farm of 100 acres in Sharon for 300 pounds to his son, Reuben, who on the same day leased it back for the lifetime of his parents, for an annual rent of 3 shillings.
Joseph was probably living with his son Benjamin when the 1810 Census was taken.


Mary

Mary unknown was born circa 1717 in CT probably.
She married Joseph Parkhurst son of John Parkhurst and Abigail How(e), circa 1742 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT probably.
She died on 12 December 1809 in Royalton, Windsor Co., VT.
She was buried in 1809 in N. Royalton Cem., Royalton, Windsor Co., VT.
Mary's maiden name was perhaps Coit.
No marriage record for Joseph and his wife, Mary, has been found.
No proof has been found that Mary was nee Johnson.


Infant Parkhurst

Infant Parkhurst was born in 1752 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
He/she died on 1 April 1752 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
Plainfield Church record reads: " Lieut. Parkhurst his infant died 1 April 1752."


Stephen Powell

John Parkhurst

John Parkhurst was born on 1 March 1691 in Chelmsford, Middlesex Co., MA.
He married Abigail How(e) daughter of Samuel How(e) and Mary Nutting, on 1 November 1714 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
He died on 17 November 1771 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT, at age 80.
John, while still a child, moved from Chelmsford, MA to Plainfield, CT with his parents who were early settlers there.
He met and married his wife in Plainfield and lived there the rest of his life.
He was confirmed as Lieutenant of the 2nd company of the Plainfield Training Band in May 1736 and was promoted to Captain in October 1739.
John purchased all the lands that had not before been given away, sold, or disposed of from the remaining heirs of his father, who is spoken of in the deed as "our late honard father Joseph Parkhurst".
The compiler of this genealogy is one of John's descendants.


Abigail How(e)

Abigail7 How(e) was born on 27 February 1693 in Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.
She married John Parkhurst son of Joseph Parkhurst and Eunice Spalding, on 1 November 1714 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
She died on 10 January 1774 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT, at age 80.


Phinehas Parkhurst

Phinehas Parkhurst was born on 28 April 1716 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
He died on 20 May 1778 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA, at age 62.
Phinehas was a surgeon on the brig Resistance.
He was carried on the accounts of Nathaniel Shaw, Jr., Naval Agent at New London, CT.
Phinehas died of "West Indies fever" just after returning from a voyage.
It appears that he never married.


Hannah Parkhurst

Hannah Parkhurst was born on 25 August 1724 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
No further record of Hannah has been found. She probably died young.


Mary Parkhurst

Mary Parkhurst was born on 2 March 1726 in Plainfield, Windham Co., CT.
The Mary Parkhurst who married James Day was the daughter of Timothy Parkhurst and Elizabeth Cady. No further record of this Mary has been found.
She probably died young.


Ann Parkhurst

Ann Parkhurst was born on 5 June 1793 in Sharon, Windsor Co., VT.
She married Elisha Miller on 20 August 1811 in Highgate, Franklin Co., VT.
She died on 14 November 1882 in Rochester, Monroe Co., NY, at age 89.
Or perhaps she died on 15 November 1882 in Rochester, Monroe Co., NY.


Stephen Parkhurst

Stephen Parkhurst was born on 15 December 1795 in Sharon, Windsor Co., VT.
He married Laura Stevenson, daughter of John Stevenson and Hannah Phelps, on 25 December 1818 in Plattsburgh, Clinton Co., NY.
He died on 15 June 1871 at age 75.

When the 1870 Census was taken, Stephen owned personal property valued at $1120.
He appeared on the census of 8 August 1870 in Madison Twp., Mahaska Co., IA.


John Parkhurst
